To get up to speed with the new Angular 2 framework and front-end development in ASP.NET 5, I thought I would implement the Angular 2 “Tour of Heroes” tutorial using Visual Studio 2015 and document it in this post.

Upgrading to ASP.NET 5 involved installing the new Visual Studio 2015. This was actually a very smooth update process, and the solutions and projects (built before using Visual Studio 2013) opened without any messages about having to run conversions. Having used Microsoft’s cloud computing platform ‘Azure’ in the past to create and configure Windows servers, I thought it would be a good platform to host a Linux server to experiment with ASP.NET 5 on Linux as it’s easy to get a virtual machine (VM) up and running in a few minutes.
